Yuvadeepthi was formed out of a group of
people who initially used to meet up in the church as a small prayer group. On
13 May 2001, the activities of Yuvadeepthi were officially kicked off in the
parish by the diocesan director of Yuvadeepthi, Fr. Vilfichan Thekkevayalil,
with the blessing of the vicar and assistant vicar of the parish, Fr. Jose
Puthenkaduppil and Fr. Thomas Mundiyanickal, respectively.
This incredible Youth movements has "The Integral Development
of the Catholic Youth and the Total Liberation of Human Society in accordance
with the Christian values" as its motto. Drawing its energy from constant
prayers and great insights, Yuvadeepthi works towards social upliftment, with
active participation of young parishioners.
Along with prayerfully participating in the Holymass and prayers,
the members don major roles in getting the church decked up during Christmas,
Easter, Onam, and other major occasions. Fund-raising activities to help the
construction of churches, homes for the homeless, treatment for the sick are
also carried out alongside the celebrations. The members visit Charity homes
like Nasreth in Chenkal, Penuvel in Thambalakkadu etc, and spent time with the
inmates in prayers and providing the essential personal support. The
‘Kalyanamandapam’ , the main source of income of Yuvadeepthi is still a hot
favorite.
A pilgrimage to Malayattoor, the place blessed with the foot
prints of St. Thomas is conducted every year. It’s a matter of happiness to
state that Yuvadeepthi is perpetually able to find and contribute immensely
towards the activities and varying needs of the parish
